Dana Tizya-Tramm

Former Chief, Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation | Director, Nadlii

Dana Tizya-Tramm is a Vuntut Gwitchin leader, visionary strategist, and internationally recognized advocate for Indigenous rights, climate action, and technological innovation. As former Chief of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (2019–2023), Dana helped bring global attention to the accelerating climate crisis through his Nation's historic 2019 Climate Declaration, championing an approach to environmental stewardship grounded in Indigenous knowledge, intergenerational responsibility, and the understanding that humanity is inseparable from the natural world.

Recognized by TIME as an emerging leader and a recipient of a Clean50 leadership award, Dana brings a unique perspective shaped by his experience in Indigenous self-government, international climate diplomacy, and systems transformation.

As a Director of the Nadlii Society, Dana is advancing the development of Indigenous-led artificial intelligence, exploring how emerging technologies can preserve traditional knowledge, empower communities, and strengthen self-determination.

At the heart of his work is a fundamental question: How do we harness humanity's extraordinary technological capabilities without losing sight of the relationships, responsibilities, and values that make our collective future worth building?

Dana challenges conventional thinking by bridging ancestral wisdom with modern innovation, advocating for a future where technology serves humanity, economies respect ecology, and progress is measured not simply by what we create, but by what we leave for the generations yet to come.
